You must’ve put a lot of love in those. Yes, the short one said with a sad smile, they’re very special. Roland reached toward the basket like he was about to touch a priceless piece of art. May I? Not a good idea, the fairy said in a high pitched, squeaky voice, shaking his ugly head. The short one looked up at his friend and patted him on the arm. Roland thought it was a bit harder than necessary, but then, he knew how rough friends and brothers could be. Go ahead, the short one said, I bet you have to be sure there isn’t anything dangerous in there! He laughed, a deep throaty chuckle. True enough, Roland answered, flipping open the checked cloth. He leaned forward, and sticking his face close to the basket, he inhaled. Mmmm, he said as he stood back up. They smell wonderful. He gently covered the muffins, tucking the cloth inside as if it were covering a sleeping baby. There are more rules than you could imagine in a place like this. And unfortunately, he said, shrugging his shoulders, one of them is visitors are allowed on Sundays only. The fairy began to sob. Softly at first, then louder, until he was wailing so hard it was beginning to attract attention from a group of villagers passing http://www.milaci.ro/ by. It’s just that, the one like Chet began in a low whisper, his brother is up there, and we don’t know when, well, if, he’ll ever get out. And, besides, he finished with a quick wink, the muffins won’t keep ‘til Sunday. The fairy leaned over and loudly blew his nose behind his friend’s back. The stocky man grimaced and punched the fairy in the side. Hard, too. But Roland understood. His brothers loved to rub all kinds of boogies and disgusting stuff on him when he wasn’t looking. He felt like punching them a lot. I’ll tell you what I can do, he said, happy to be able to oblige these folks and keep to the letter of the law as well. I’ll deliver the basket for you. Thank you, the short one said, bowing slightly. You’d be doing us such a service. Good! Roland said, and clapped his hands together, pleased with how the whole thing was turning out. The short one smiled as he handed over the basket of muffins, and Roland thought of the fox again.
